Der Dirigent Daniel Barenboim, 81, hat krankheitsbedingt mehrere Konzerte abgesagt. Betroffen sind das Europakonzert der Berliner Philharmoniker im georgischen Tsinandali am 1. Mai sowie in der Hauptstadt Tiflis am 2. Mai, zudem zwei Konzerte am 26. und 27. April in Berlin. Bei allen vier Konzerten springt der britische Dirigent Daniel Harding am Pult ein.

Wenn ein 1981 gegründetes Quartett die vier Abende der Saison im Wiener Konzerthaus mit je einem Quartett von Haydn und einem der letzten Quartette von Beethoven als Eckpunkte gibt und darin je ein anderes großes Quartett einbettet, dann mag man schon an einen Abschied denken. Aber da in der kommenden Saison wieder vier Abende angesetzt sind, ist dem zum Glück nicht so. The Taiwanese conductor Chia-Hsuan Lin, currently the associate conductor of the Richmond Symphony in Richmond, Virginia, was named the new Music Director of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra in Rochester, NY.
