The Canadian Government will give an extra funding of $17.5 million to the musical community for a “national musical celebration” to honor Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017. The fund was the result of a close collaboration between the Government of Canada, the private sector and the non-profit sector, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, who will be getting $7.5 million from the federal government. TSO announced that the funds will help create “extraordinary conditions for Canadian composers and innovators to flourish.”
