In the next months an important merger will occur in the recording industry. The Belgian group [PIAS] will become a major shareholder of the French Harmonia Mundi Group and all its subsidiaries and labels (Le Chant du Monde, Discograph, Jazz Village, World Village et Little Village). Eva Coutaz will remain artistic director of Harmonia Mundi, and we hear that all the planned recording projects for the next two years will be realized.
Harmonia Mundi responsible say that, as independent producers, [PIAS] and HM share the same vision and the same values. They believe that the new structure will allow HM to get a better distribution. The book publishing sector will be brought into e new commercial entity, Harmonia Mundi Livre S.A., Benoît Coutaz becoming the General manager of this company.
