At the end of this year’s National Chopin Competition in the United States, 17 years old Eric Lu, was awarded First Prize which includes a cash award of $75,000, concert appearances and automatic acceptance as a competitor at Warsaw’s International Chopin Competition in October. Lu is a student of Jonathan Biss and Robert McDonald at Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute. Rachel Naomi Kudo received the $35,000 Second Prize which also brings her to the Warsaw Competition. The other prize winners, George Li, Eric Zuber, Joshua Wright and Alexander Beyer will participate in auditions in Warsaw which could lead to some also being admitted to the competition
