Now in its eleventh year, Cirque de la Symphonie is again on tour in the U.S., performing with the Detroit Symphony from 31 March to 2 April. Cirque de la Symphonie is a production designed to bring the magic of cirque to the concert hall. As a fusion of cirque and orchestra, the program showcases many of the best cirque artists in the world, thrilling the audience with aerial flyers, acrobats, dancers, jugglers, and balancers.
In Detroit, the acrobats will perform to music played by the Detroit Symphony led by Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik.
The program will comprise a mix of particularly circus-oriented classics (Danse Macabre, Overture to Candide, Dance of the Swans, etc.) as well as some pops numbers drawn from movies (including Star Wars, Superman, and Gladiator).
The ensemble’s tour will continue with the Philadelphia Orchestra Vancouver Symphony Boston Pops, San Antonio Symphony Orchestra among others.
