The Cleveland Orchestra has announced a five-year extension of its contract with Music Director Franz Welser-Möst, 59, through the 2016/2027 season. The Austrian conductor will then have a tenure of 25 years, one year longer than that of George Szell. He succeeded Christoph von Dohnanyi in 2002.

The 2019 edition of the Musikfest Berlin took place from 30 August to 19 September. The organizer says, more than 39,000 visitors came to both of the halls at the Philharmonie as well as to the Konzerthaus. The festival showcased a total of 26 events.
