Das Festspielhaus Baden-Baden hat seine öffentlichen Veranstaltungen für den Monat Mai aufgrund der aktuellen Lage in der Corona-Pandemie abgesagt. Die aktuelle Landesverordnung verbiete den Spielbetrieb zunächst bis zum 16. Mai. Entsprechend könne die geplante Residenz der Berliner Philharmoniker vom 6. bis 9. Mai nicht stattfinden. Weiter werden auch die Pfingstfestspiele 2021 (13.-24. Mai) in Baden-Baden nicht stattfinden können, da der Vorlauf für das Festival zu kurz wäre. Read More →

People who received a dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Reykjavík’s mass vaccination center yesterday were able to experience a concert by members of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra while getting their injection, the Iceland Review reports. The ISO contacted vaccination officials and asked if they could play at the center, and the proposal was eagerly accepted.

The Reina Sofía School of Music celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2021, consolidated as a center of high musical training. It was created in 1991 by its founder and president, Paloma O’Shea, one of the most important figures in the promotion of music in Spain, with the support of Her Majesty Queen Sofía and the participation of a group of excellent musicians – Mstislav Rostropovich, Yehudi Menuhin, Alicia de Larrocha, and Zubin Mehta – who helped Ms. O’Shea to design the School and recruit the best professors at the time. At the occasion of this anniversary, Pizzicato is presenting the school and interviews with Dean Oscar Colomina and several students from various countries.
