Chilean-Italian conductor Paolo Bortolameolli has been named the next Music Director of the Opera Nacional de Chile and Filarmonica de Santiago with a tenure commencing in the 2026 season for an initial three years, Arabella Arts announced. Bortolameolli said, “I receive this appointment with tremendous pride and happiness, at a point where I have consolidated a very special artistic and personal relationship with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Santiago.”

The World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC) and the Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv have announced that the Odesa International Violin Competition (OIVC) will be reinstated in 2025 and that this year’s edition will take place from August 17–24 in Monheim, Germany. Read More →

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (FWSO) has announced that the contract of Music Director Robert Spano has been extended to 31st July 2031. Jane Glover has been named Principal Guest Conductor for a three-year term starting in 2025-2026.

Uwe Krusch folgte für Pizzicato einem ungewöhnlichen Konzertabend, der im Zeichen verschieden besetzter Sonaten eines Komponisten stand und nicht das Programm an einer Besetzung ausrichtete. Kléber Mesquida, president (PS) of the Hérault departmental council, announced a 100% cut in the budget allocated to culture in his department. Hérault, with an annual budget of 2 billion euros, of which the non-compulsory cultural portion represents between 5 and 6 million euros, will be the only department in France to allocate no money at all to culture by 2025. The San Antonio Philharmonic is about to play its inaugural concerts in its new auditorium, the Scottish Rite Cathedral.
