Das im fünfzehnten Jahrhundert extrem populäre Liede Fortuna Desperata diente als Inspiration für sechs Messen und mindestens achtunddreißig weitere abgeleitete Vertonungen aus dem fünfzehnten und sechzehnten Jahrhundert. Das Blockflöten-Ensemble Consort Mirabile hat auf diesem Album Vertonungen dieses Liedes aus verschiedenen Jahrhunderten bis hin zu Kompositionen unserer Zeit, die von Fortuna Desperata inspiriert wurden, zusammengetragen und mit wechselnden Blockflöten-Besetzungen eingespielt. Bei einigen Tracks wirken die Sopranistin Marta Redaelli sowie der Countertenor Andrés Montilla-Acurero mit.
Die Darbietung dieses höchst originellen Programms zeugt von hohem Bewusstsein für klangliche Gestaltung.
Das informative Booklet enthält alle gesungenen Texte. Hervorragend ist auch die Tonaufnahme, die an Fülle, Ausgewogenheit und Farbtreue wohl kaum zu überbieten ist.
Extremely popular in the fifteenth century, the song Fortuna Desperata served as the inspiration for six masses and at least thirty-eight other derived settings from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. On this album, the recorder ensemble Consort Mirabile has compiled settings of this song from various centuries to contemporary compositions inspired by Fortuna Desperata, and recorded them with changing recorder instrumentations. Some of the tracks feature soprano Marta Redaelli and countertenor Andrés Montilla-Acurero, and the performance of this highly original program demonstrates a great awareness of tonal quality.
The informative booklet contains all the sung texts. The sound recording is also excellent and can hardly be surpassed in terms of richness, balance and color fidelity.
