The city of Echternach/Luxembourg has announced today a new 4-year European co-operation project, EUBO Mobile Baroque Academy, which will build on the 30-year successful track-record of the European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO) in providing training and performing opportunities for young EU orchestral musicians and a bridge into the profession.
Over the next four years the EMBA project will extend and develop the possibilities for players of baroque instruments who intend to pursue a professional career.
The activities of EMBA comprise music education (masterclasses, courses), performances (international touring, recordings), audience development (including schools work, project with puppeteers), an orchestral apprentice scheme, and a digital programme of interviews, comment and advice related to baroque music and period performance.
Besides the city of Echternach and the European Union Baroque Orchestra the most important partners are Association Européenne des Conservatoires (B), Concerto Copenhagen (DK), Estonian Record Productions, Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz (D), the Malta Council for Culture and Arts/Valletta Baroque Festival (MT), Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag (NL), Universitatea Nationala De Muzica Din Bucuresti (RO) and St John’s Smith Square London (UK).
The total budget is €4.4 million of which €2 million (45%) will be funded through the Creative Europe programme of the EU. The remaining €2.4 million must be generated through concert performances and related activities (30%) and raised from trusts and corporate sponsorship (25%).
