Italy, homeland of opera, has more than 800 opera theatres, the vast majority being very small size and no longer used for performances. Now the organisation OperaExtravaganza has developed a project to bring back to life these little gems. The initial choice is the splendid Teatro Francesco Torti of Bevagna, a small city not far away from Perugia and Assisi (Umbria).
With a successful crowdfunding campaign OperaExtravaganza was able to set up a project of performances which started in May at the Torti Theatre of Bevagna and will continue in September (Piano recital), November (La Dirindina by Domenico Scarlatti) and December (Die Fledermaus). Most of those evenings will be available worldwide through streaming!
