The musicians of the Adelphi Quartet, the violinists Maxime Michaluk (Belgium) and Esther Agusti Matabosch (Spain), the British violist Adam Newmanb and the German cellist Nepomuk Braun announced the dissolution of their formation this evening. « After seven unforgettable years of music-making, we’ve made the decision to part ways and pursue individual musical journeys. »
According to what Pizzicato learned from quartet members in the last months, this is not completely unexpected, although, in an interview focusing in parts on the seventh year since the quartet’s foundation the answer was: « 2024 may be our seventh year, and we hope that we have many more years together ahead of us. (…) Our enthusiasm is still unbroken and continues to grow! » Now this answer came, as we know today, from the two violinists only and that at a moment when the sword of Damocles was already clearly hanging over the quartet.
