German conductor Alexander Liebreich, 56, has been appointed Chief Conductor of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and will officially take up his position in the 2026 season, in parallel with his duties as Music Director of the Orchestra de Valencia in Spain, which he has held since 2022.

This announcement is a continuation of a collaboration which began in 2008 between Alexander Liebreich and the Taiwan’s leading orchestra,. Starting in 2026, the Orchestra will count on its new maestro for a three-year term, opening a new chapter in the history of the TSO, following on from maestro Eliahu Inbal’s tenure.

In addition to the upcoming symphonic concerts, Alexander Liebreich and the TSO will also bring to the stage the opera Tristan und Isolde, presented in a new staging in 2026.
