Alpesh Chauhan, 26, a British conductor of Indian descent, has been named Principal conductor of the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, succeeding Francesco Lanzillotta at the beginning of the 2017-2018 season. Alpesh made his debut with Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini in March 2015, when he stepped in at late notice to conduct two concerts with the orchestra. He was immediately re-invited for the 2015/16 season to conduct concerts in January and March, as well as a seven-concert tour this summer. Alpesh will join the orchestra for three engagements in the 2016/17 season, before he takes up the post of Principal Conductor.
