After fighting cancer with a very heavy chemotherapy, saxophone player Ties Mellema, 40, is leaving the Amstel Quartet after having been a member of the group since almost 20 years. The American saxophonist Harry Cherrin will be taking will take his place as of January 2017. Harry Cherrin is an American saxophonist, improviser, and composer based in the Netherlands since 2006.
