The Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra announced today that both orchestras reached an agreement for an extension of their Music Director’s contracts.
Latvian conductor Andris Nelson, 41, agreed to a three-year extension of his contract as BSO Music Director through the 2024-25 season. The initial contract covers the period September 2014-August 2022.
Simultaneously Nelsons also announced the extension of his contract as Gewandhauskapellmeister through 2027 and, in addition to the news of his contract extensions, the continuation of the Boston Symphony Orchestra/Gewandhausorchester Alliance through 2025.
