Das französische Projekt-Orchester Lutetia wurde 2011 von dem aus Argentinien stammenden Dirigenten Alejandro Sandler gegründet. Auf diesem Album spielt es zwei eigene Auftragswerke, Descaminos (Gabriel Sivak) und Alas (Gerardo di Giusto).
Alas (Flügel) ist ein rhythmisch-tänzerisches Werk, das sich von argentinischer traditioneller Musik nährt und mittig einen vom Baguala inspirierten lyrischen Teil beinhaltet.
Descaminos (aus dem Spanischen ‘descaminar’, « den Weg verlassen den vorgezeichneten Weg verlassen ») von Gabriel Sivak ist ein Stück, das seine Inspiration aus der Pampa bezieht, jener riesigen Region, die die argentinischen Provinzen Buenos Aires, La Pampa, Santa Fe und Cordoba umfasst. Das Werk beginnt sehr geheimnisvoll, wechselt zwischen lyrischen und virtuosen Teilen, bleibt aber im Grunde immer recht mysteriös und entsprechend atmosphärisch.
Alejandro Iglesias Rossis Llorando silencios, sechs introvertierte Gesänge für Solocello, sind Teil eines Zyklus, der sich mit der Mystik der präkolumbianischen Tradition befasst und das Cello auch klanglich manchmal in die Nähe traditioneller Instrumente rückt.
Alberto Ginasteras Variaciones concertantes wurden 1953 komponiert, in einer für den Komponisten schwierigen Zeit, als er aufgrund politischer Konflikte mit der Perón-Regierung seinen Posten als Direktor des Konservatoriums in La Plata verlor und von Auftragswerken der Filmindustrie lebte oder, eher selten, von Musikorganisationen, so im Falle der Variaciones, die von der Asociación Amigos de la Música in Buenos Aires bestellt und unter Igor Markevitch uraufgeführt wurden. Die Musik ist inspiriert von folkloristischen und traditionellen Materialien.
Es ist ein brillantes und anspruchsvolles Werk, das hier ebenso elegant, transparent und klanglich differenziert wie stimmungsvoll aufgeführt wird.
Cellist Patrick Langot, conductor Alejandro Sandler and the Orchestre de Lutetia perform a program of Argentinian music. The French project orchestra Lutetia was founded in 2011 by the Argentinian-born conductor Alejandro Sandler. On this album, it plays two of its own commissioned works, Descaminos (Gabriel Sivak) and Alas (Gerardo di Giusto).

The work begins very mysteriously, alternating between lyrical and virtuoso sections, but basically always remains quite mysterious and correspondingly atmospheric.
Alejandro Iglesias Rossi’s Llorando silencios, six introverted songs for solo cello, are part of a cycle that deals with the mysticism of the pre-Columbian tradition and sometimes brings the cello close to the sound of traditional instruments.
Alberto Ginastera’s Variaciones concertantes were composed in 1953, at a difficult time for the composer, when he lost his post as director of the conservatory in La Plata due to political conflicts with the Perón government and lived of commissions from the film industry or, more rarely, from music organizations, as in the case of the Variaciones, which were commissioned by the Asociación Amigos de la Música in Buenos Aires and premiered under Igor Markevitch. The music is inspired by folkloric and traditional materials.
It is a brilliant and demanding work, which is performed here with elegance, transparency and tonal differentiation as well as full of atmosphere.
