The Prix Serdang, a Swiss piano award was presented to 25-year-old Israeli pianist Ariel Lanyi by curator Rudolf Buchbinder and initiator Adrian Flury. The prize is endowed with CHF 50,000.
« It is an honor for us to award a pianist like Ariel Lanyi with the Prix Serdang. His talent and dedication to music are exactly what we seek to honor and promote with this prize. I am grateful that we have in Rudolf Buchbinder a curator whose life is wholly dedicated to music, who shares his passion and understanding for music with us, and helps us identify and appreciate artists of Ariel Lanyi’s caliber, » says Adrian Flury, the initiator of the prize.
In his speech at the awards ceremony, curator Rudolf Buchbinder highlighted the exceptional musical abilities and remarkable career of the young pianist Ariel Lanyi: « It is a great pleasure to introduce you today to an exceptionally talented young pianist: Ariel Lanyi. Lanyi’s repertoire includes works from Bach to contemporary composers and he is known for his remarkable technique and sensitive interpretations. »
Buchbinder also spoke about Lanyi’s skills as a composer and what sets him apart from other young pianists: « But what makes Ariel Lanyi so special? What distinguishes him from other young pianists? First of all, his technical skill. His playing is precise, nuanced, and virtuosic, and he is no superficial virtuoso. What sets him apart is his ability to delve deeply into the music and establish a connection with it. He doesn’t just play the notes, he lives the music, tries to capture its essence, and conveys it with extraordinary intensity, sensitivity, and expressive maturity. »
