Auf einem metallisch und hart klingenden Flügel und in einer akustisch ziemlich halligen Aufnahme präsentiert sich Vincent Larderet in einem ganzen Liszt-Programm. Er arbeitet die Kontraste zwischen den Stücken effektvoll heraus, hier sehr virtuos, dort reflektiv und verinnerlicht, gestalterisch durchgehend sehr souverän und rhetorisch, wobei das Konfliktuelle, manchmal sogar mit einem Unterton von Frustration und Unzufriedenheit gut zum Ausdruck kommt. Wäre die Aufnahme etwas natürlicher und angenehmer, hätte dies ein attraktives Liszt-Programm sein können. Der Pianist hatte schon bessere Aufnahmeteams…

P.S. Als Aufnahmedatum gibt das Booklet den 29. und 30. Oktober 2020 an, also ein Datum, das hinter jenem der Veröffentlichung liegt. Gemeint war wohl Oktober 2019. Oder ein anderes, früheres Datum in 2020.

On a metallic and hard sounding grand piano and in an acoustically rather reverberant recording Vincent Larderet plays a whole Liszt programme. He effectively brings out the contrasts between and in the pieces, here very virtuosic, there reflective and introverted, throughout very matured and rhetorical, whereby the conflictual aspects, sometimes even with an undertone of frustration and dissatisfaction, are well expressed. If the recording had been more natural and pleasant, this could have been an attractive Liszt programme. The pianist definitely already had better recording teams…
P.S. The booklet gives 29 and 30 October 2020 as the date of recording, i.e. a date that lies after that of the release. This was probably October 2019, or another, earlier date in 2020.
