Dorothee Oberlinger hat zusammen mit ihrem Ensemble 1700 sowie der Sopranistin Dorothee Mields und dem zweiten Ensemble Le Piffari e le Muse unter dem Titel Pastorale Werke aufgenommen, die zu Weihnachten passen. Dabei sollte man sich in Erinnerung rufen, dass die Hirten auf dem Felde als erste von der Geburt erfuhren. Und, dass ihr Instrumentarium etwa aus Flöten und Fiedeln bestand.
In diesem Sinn und auch, um ihr Instrument, die Flöte verwenden zu können, hat Oberlinger etliche Bearbeitungen für diese Besetzung gefunden bzw. selbst arrangiert. So erklingt hier das eigentlich als Streicherstück sehr bekannte Weihnachtskonzert von Corelli mit hinzugefügter Flötenstimme und damit in einer faktisch unbekannten Version. Es fällt ein wenig schwer, nicht den gewohnten Klang zu hören, aber umso interessierter lauscht man dem Neuen, zumal es hervorragend vorgetragen wird.
Die für das barocke Repertoire prädestinierte Sopranistin Dorothee Mields ist in zwei Werken zu hören, die beide Bezüge zu Alessandro Scarlatti haben, seine Weihnachtskantate ‘O di Betlemme altera povertà venturosa’ und das sehr populäre italienische Weihnachtslied ‘Tu scendi dalle stelle‘, das Scarlatti wiederholt in seinen Werken aufgriff. Mields versteht es bestens, mit einfühlsam formuliertem Gesang die so schlichte wie auch ergreifende Musik mit leichter und trotzdem klar artikulierender und sich der jeweiligen Situation anpassender Stimme diese Einspielung zu bereichern.
Beide Ensembles tragen mit ihrem konturierten und aufmerksamen Spiel die stimmungsvollen Aufnahmen mit und versetzen den Hörer damit sofort in liebliche Landschaften.
So führt Oberlinger als Arrangeurin, Flötistin und Dirigentin durch eine Welt aus bekannten und wenig gehörten Komponisten und Werken. Damit bietet sie eine belebende Weihnachts-CD ausgezeichneter interpretatorischer Qualität abseits ausgetretener Wege. Sicherlich ein guter Tipp für den Gabentisch derjenigen, die sich neuen Tönen widmen möchten. Und dabei kann man sich gedanklich an der Wolle des die CD schmückenden Schafes wärmen.
Dorothee Oberlinger, together with her Ensemble 1700 as well as soprano Dorothee Mields and the second ensemble Le Piffari e le Muse, has recorded works under the title Pastorale that are fitting for Christmas. It is worth remembering that the shepherds in the field were the first to learn of the Nativity. And that their instruments consisted of flutes and fiddles, for example.
In this sense and also in order to be able to use her instrument, the recorder, she found several arrangements for this instrumentation or arranged them herself. Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, which is actually very well known as a string piece, is heard here with an added flute part and thus in a version that is in fact unknown. It is a bit difficult not to hear the familiar sound, but all the more interested one listens to the new, especially since it is performed excellently.
Soprano Dorothee Mields, who is predestined for the baroque repertoire, can be heard in two works, both of which have references to Alessandro Scarlatti, his Christmas cantata ‘O di Betlemme altera povertà venturosa’ and the very popular Italian Christmas carol ‘Tu scendi dalle stelle’, which Scarlatti repeatedly took up in his works. Mields understands perfectly how to enrich this recording with sensitively formulated singing of music as simple as it is moving, with a voice that is light yet clearly articulate and adapts to the situation at hand.
Both ensembles carry the atmospheric recordings along with their contoured and attentive playing, immediately transporting the listener to lovely landscapes.
Thus Oberlinger, as arranger, flutist and conductor, leads the listener through a world of well-known and little-heard composers and works. She thus offers an invigorating Christmas CD of excellent interpretive quality off the beaten track. Certainly a good tip for the gift table of those who want to dedicate themselves to new sounds. And at the same time you can mentally warm yourself with the wool of the sheep decorating the CD’s cover.
