Nach den kurzen Einleitungsstücken, Fanfare und Menuet antique, beide in schönen Farben und extremer Klarheit, folgt eine vom Orchester und der Sängerin sehr atmosphärische und expressive Interpretation von Ravels Shéhérazade. Die Stimme von Fleur Barron setzt die Musik zu den Gedichten von Tristan Klingsor wunderbar um. Genau so gut gelingen ihr die Mallarmé-Lieder. Die Textverständlichkeit ist freilich gering. Beide Polen dieser Einspielung waren in ihrer Zeit als Konzertpianisten sehr bekannt. Ihre Kompositionen sind weitgehend in Vergessenheit geraten. Und was Józef Wieniawski und Ignacy Jan Paderewski noch gemeinsam hatten war, dass sie aus Polen emigrierten. Chilean-Italian conductor Paolo Bortolameolli has been named the next Music Director of the Opera Nacional de Chile and Filarmonica de Santiago with a tenure commencing in the 2026 season for an initial three years, Arabella Arts announced. Bortolameolli said, “I receive this appointment with tremendous pride and happiness, at a point where I have consolidated a very special artistic and personal relationship with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Santiago.”

What does this award mean to you and how do you feel about receiving it?
I am, above all, very happy for the opportunity to produce this album with Enescu’s music. This is music I have loved all my life and I have always wanted to bring it into a brighter spotlight by recording the three symphonies and the two rhapsodies. These recordings are just the beginning, so to speak, of my broader vision for showcasing Enescu’s music. I am delighted that these efforts continue to garner such attention.
