Gennady Rozhdestvensky

Some weeks ago Russian conductor Gennady Rozhdestvensky cancelled in Dresden after he fall on his way to the concert hall. The 84 years old conductor recovered with high speed and is now able to step in in Chicago for CSO Music Director Riccardo Muti, who had to withdraw from his February concerts due to recovery from a hip operation. He broke the hip when he fall in his house in Ravenna.

Anton Bruckners Neunte Symphonie wird in dieser Aufführung zum Problemfall. Da ist einerseits ein junges Orchester, das zeigt, welch hohes instrumentales Niveau es hat, wie gut auch seine Solisten sind, welche Farben es im Detail produzieren kann und zu welch mächtigem Klang es im Ensemble fähig ist, aber da ist andererseits ein Dirigent, der seinem Orchester mit schwerem Atem eher langsame Tempi vorgibt, die sicher nicht dem Temperament der jungen Musiker entsprechen und letztlich die Musik an einem wirklichen Entfalten hindern.
