The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra announced its 2024/25 season line-up, presenting internationally renowned conductors and soloists. Outgoing Music Director Jaap van Zweden’s position will nit be filled immediately, but the orchestra says that Italian conductor Daniele Gatti, 62, has been appointed as the HK Phil’s Artistic Partner.

The Illinois Symphony Orchestra (ISO) announced the appointment of Japanese American conductor Taichi Fukumura as Music Director effective July 1, 2024. Taichi Fukumura is the Second Prize Winner of The Mahler Competition 2023 and a four-time recipient of the Solti Foundation U.S. Career Assistance Award 2021-2024.

The Artis Quartett in Vienna, Peter Schuhmayer, 1st Violin, Johannes Meissl, 2nd Violin, Herbert Kefer, Viola and Othmar Müller,Violoncello, has announced on Facebook that they will play their last concert in 2025: « We think it is time to officially announce that the members of the Artis Quartet have decided to disband after a long and prosperous career of 45 years at the end of 2025! We are looking forward to play for our audiences until the very final and last bar! »

Fréderic Chopin hat von 1827 bis 1846 eine Reihe von 21 Nocturnes komponiert. Es sind melodische Stücke mit raffinierter Verzierung, die an den italienischen Opernstil des Belcantos erinnern. Einige sind träumerisch, doch viele zeugen von einer großen kompositorischen Fantasie und gehen in ihrer Rhetorik über das einfache Nocturne hinaus, das John  Field erfunden hatte. Die drei selbstständigen Stimmen sind auf die rechte und die linke Hand sowie auf die Füße verteilt und die Werke sind von stupender Ausgewogenheit und besitzen wunderbare Melodien. French orchestra Les Siècles is punished for having a conductor who is accused of sexual harassment. A Korean organizer just cancelled a concert on November 17, which should have been part of an Asian tour of Les Siècles. So far it is not clear if the rest of the tour is also cancelled. Read More →

Osmo Vänksä dirigiert die beiden ersten Sätze der 3. Symphonie recht besonnen und gemäßigt. Die Musik lebt zwar und spricht, aber andere haben sie nervöser und erregter werden lassen. Wer glaubt, Beethovens Klaviersonaten zu kennen, der sollte sich diese  Aufnahme der Sonaten Nr. 5, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 21, 25 und 28 in den Interpretationen von Moritz Winkelmann anhören. Ähnlich wie Rudolf Buchbinder in seinen Salzburger Einspielungen (DGG) findet Winkelmann neue Farben, neue Tempi und eine ganz individuelle Art und Weise, Beethoven zu interpretieren, Beethoven stilistisch zu begegnen.
