Die Klaviersonate von Vincent d’Indy und die Promenades von Albéric Magnard sind keine Werke, die man in Konzerten hört. Auch auf Tonträger erfreuen sie sich keiner großen Beliebtheit. Hört man sich dieses Album an, dann versteht man auch wieso. Die komplexe, wenig ausdrucksstarke und gewollt interessante Klaviersonate bietet kaum Hörvergnügen. Der seit 2017 vergebene Herbert-von-Karajan-Preis geht dieses Jahr an die Sopranistinnen Lise Davidsen (Norwegen) und Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha (Südafrika) sowie an die Mezzo-Sopranistin Eve-Maud Hubeaux (Schweiz). Der Preis wird seit 2023 an drei herausragende Künstler der Bereiche Oper, Konzert oder Tanz vergeben und ist mit jeweils 16.000 Euro dotiert. Die Verleihung erfolgt am 25. März im Anschluss an das Chorkonzert der Osterfestspiele.
