French baritone Jean-Christophe Benoît died yesterday at the age of 93. He studied with Olivier Messiaen, Noël Gallon and Gabriel Dubois. In his early career he composed some works, while soon start a singer’s career on the stage and concert platform. He had a wide repertoire but focused on French operatic roles and French melodies. From 1970 to 1990 he was a professor at the Paris Conservatoire.
