59-year-old Basque conductor Juanjo Mena has announced that he is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. In a video shared on his social networks, Mena revealed his diagnosis, that he is in an incipient stage of the disease, and how he is coping with this difficult situation. « I have conducted many complex scores in my life, but this is undoubtedly the most difficult of all, » he said.
Mena explained that the diagnosis came after several months of exhaustive medical tests. Despite the news, he has been optimistic and determined to move forward with his career, albeit with certain adjustments. « I will continue working, but resting more. Music and my family will become my best therapy to face the future, » he said.
