Russian agencies report the sudden death, yesterday, of bass-baritone Edward Nikolaevich Tsanga, 38, a native of the Republic of Komi (about 1700 km north-east of Moscow).
A prize-winner and diploma-recipient at numerous music competitions including Plácido Domingo’s Operalia and the Elena Obraztsova International Competition, Edward Tsanga was a Mariinsky Opera soloist since 2008.
Together with the Mariinsky Opera, Edward Tsanga toured to London, Paris and cities in Finland, South Korea, Japan and Germany. He performed the role of Leandro in a production of Prokofiev’s opera The Love for Three Oranges at the Teatro Real (Madrid) as well as in Aix-en-Provence (France) and Luxembourg.
