The BBC has announced the closure of its choir BBC Singers, one of the media institution’s six performing groups and the UK’s only full-time professional chamber choir. 20 people lose their jobs.
At the same time the BBC announced a 20% reduction in salaried posts of the three English orchestras (the London-based BBC Symphony and Concert Orchestras, and Manchester’s Philharmonic) through a voluntary redundancy scheme.
