British composer Alexander Woolf, 26, has been sentenced a 20-week condemnation suspended for two years, British media say. Woolf, who won the BBC Young Composer Award in 2012 downloaded images of 15 women and uploaded edited versions to a pornographic site.
None of the original images were pornographic or indecent, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said. Alongside his suspended sentence, the composer, who won the prestigious BBC competition in 2012, was ordered to do 40 sessions with a sex offender programme and 150 hours of unpaid work.
Woolf’s music has been performed by artists and ensembles including the BBC Philharmonic, Sir James Galway, London Symphony Orchestra, Colin Currie, and Sir Antonio Pappano & the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.
