Hans Sitt (1850-1928) war ein bedeutender Geiger, der auch eine große Anzahl an Transkriptionen der wichtigsten symphonischen Werke des 19. Jahrhunderts für das Duo Violine und Klavier schuf. U.a. transkribierte er alle neun Beethoven-Symphonien, und von diesen Transkriptionen hat das Duo Mauro Loguercio und Emanuela Piemonti die Neunte eingespielt.
Ich gebe ehrlich zu, dass ich anfangs nicht glaubte, diese CD bis zum Ende zu hören, was dann doch passierte, denn es gibt in Sitts Transkription erstaunlich viel zu hören.
Die Destillation des ursprünglichen Materials ist Sitt prächtig gelungen, aber sie stellt auch für die beiden Interpreten eine große technische Herausforderung dar, welchen Loguercio und Piemonti mit Bravir begegnen. Doch nicht nur dem Virtuosen stellen sie sich gut, denn ihr Spiel ist auch musikalisch zufriedenstellend, insbesondere im langsamen Satz, in dem sie die Musik mit feinen Stimmungen wirkungsvoll werden lassen.

Among others, he transcribed all nine of Beethoven’s symphonies, and of these transcriptions the duo of Mauro Loguercio and Emanuela Piemonti recorded the Ninth.
I honestly admit that at first I didn’t think I would listen to this CD all the way through, which happened, because there is a surprising amount to hear in Sitt’s transcription.
Sitt has succeeded magnificently in distilling the original material, but it also presents a great technical challenge for the two performers, which Loguercio and Piemonti meet with bravura. But it is not only the virtuoso that they rise to, for their playing is musically satisfying as well, especially in the slow movement, where they make the music effective with subtle moods.
