France Musique has announced the premiere of Beethoven’s Tenth Symphony with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France this Saturday at the Philharmonie in Paris.
This work is in fact a collage of excerpts from the German composer’s nine symphonies, assembled by the French composer Pierre Henry (1927-2017). Created in 1979 on magnetic tape from various recordings, the Symphony had never been played by an orchestra before. The remix of the Beethoven Symphonies will be played by three different orchestral groups from the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Orchestra of the Conservatoire de Paris, accompanied by the Radio France Choir and Le Jeune Chœur de Paris conducted by Pascal Rophé, Bruno Mantovani and Marzena Diakun.
The concert will later be broadcast by France Musique.
