The cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris will reopen its doors this weekend, having been restored in just five years after a fire destroyed its 800-year-old wooden roof and caused its iconic spire to collapse on April 15, 2019.

Today, the Archbishop of Paris will lead the reopening service, in the presence of President Macron, as well as many more heads of state and other guests. The pope however is absent, and there might be an explanation to that. Indeed this ceremony has been combined by a spectacular concert of pop, rock, world, and classical music. So, the glamour prevails over the religious, and Trump being among the guests makes the whole thing more unbearable.

Among the classical musicians to participate in this show are Nadine Sierra, Benjamin Bernheim, Disney pianist Lang Lang, Khatia Buniatishvili, Olivier Latry, Renaud Capuçon Daniel Lozakovich, Yo-Yo Ma. Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
