Das 1992 in Mulhouse gegründete GECA BRASS (Grand Ensemble de Cuivres d’Alsace) vereint Musiker aus den größten Orchestern (Berliner Philharmoniker, Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo…).
Auf der CD Incantations spielt es ein ebenso anspruchsvolles wie verschiedenartiges Programm. Der Klang dieses Ensembles ist faszinierend, die musikalische Disziplin exemplarisch. So risikofrei und souverän kann nur ein Ensemble mit ausgesprochenen Virtuosen spielen.
GECA Brass erkundet die Werke detailfreudig und auf Wohlklang bedacht, mit sorgfältigster Phrasierung und raffinierten Nuancen. Keine der klippenreichen Partitur scheint ihnen auch nur die geringste Mühe zu machen.
Eine überragend gute Tonaufnahme lässt das Vergnügen an dieser Produktion weiter ansteigen.

GECA Brass explores the works with attention to detail and euphony, with the most careful phrasing and refined nuances. None of the cliff-hanging scores seems to give them the slightest trouble.
An outstandingly good sound recording adds to the pleasure of this production.
