The Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra (BIPO) has announced that 44-year-old Italian Carlo Tenan will be its Artistic Director from October 1, 2023 and additionally Principal Conductor from September 1, 2024. The contract runs through summer 2026.
Having graduated in conducting, piano, oboe, composition and electronic music, Carlo Tenan began his career as assistant to Antonio Pappano, Mstislav Rostropovich and Lorin Maazel. He has guest-conducted numerous great orchestras.
