Diese Einspielung ist die neueste von bisher drei Veröffentlichungen von Moszkowskis Orchestermusik. Das Programm startet mit einer schumannesken, wohl durchdachten und insgesamt sehr schlüssigen Ouvertüre, einem Stück, das der polnische Komponist 1871 komponierte, als er 17 Jahre alt war.
Den Abschluss des Programms bildet eine Präludium und Fuge für Streicher, die vom Tod der Mutter im Jahre 1910 geprägt wurde. Dazwischen erklingt die abwechslungsreiche Suite Nr. 1.
Die Interpretationen sind akkurat, insgesamt recht lebendig und farbig. Die Aufnahme ist etwas hallig geraten, passt aber letztlich nicht schlecht zu der insgesamt doch recht brillanten Musik.
This recording is the latest of three releases of Moszkowski’s orchestral music. The program opens with a Schumannesque, well-conceived and altogether very coherent overture, a piece composed by the Polish composer in 1871 when he was 17 years old.
The program concludes with a Prelude and Fugue for Strings, marked by the death of his mother in 1910. In between, the varied Suite No. 1 is heard.
The interpretations are accurate, quite lively and colorful overall. The recording is a bit reverberant, but ultimately not a bad match for the music, which is quite brilliant.
