The Jury of the 20th Santander International Piano Competition has announced the winners. Jaeden Izik-Dzurko (Canada, 23) won First Prize and Gold Medal. The Prize comprises cash of 30,000 Euros, a tour of concerts around Spain and abroad, as well as the recording of a CD for Naxos. Izik-Dzurko also won the Special Award of the Best Chamber Music Performer as well as the Audience Award.
Second Prize and Silver Medal was awarded to Xiaolu Zang (China, 22), while Marcel Tadokoro (France/Japan, 2) won Third Prize and Bronze Medal.
Born in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Jaeden Izik-Dzurko is a Grand Prize winner at the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals’ National Competition, a winner of Juilliard’s prestigious Gina Bachauer Scholarship Competition, and a Laureate of the Cochran International Piano Competition. Most recently, he was awarded First Prize at the 2022 Hilton Head International Piano Competition and the 2022 Maria Canals International Piano Competition. He completed his Bachelor of Music at the Juilliard School under Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky. He currently studies with Dr. Corey Hamm at the University of British Columbia.
