According to an article published by SF Gate, the vows were administered by state Sen. Mark Leno. When American violinist Mark O’Connor accused Shinichi Suzuki to have lied about his education, he did not hesitate to calling that ”the biggest fraud in music history”. This exaggeration made the Pizzicato editor suspicious and we did not publish the news. O’Connor said, that Suzuki did not have violin lessons in Germany and was mainly self-taught. We considered that this was not really an important matter, regarding the evident success of Suzuki as a teacher and founder of a method, how arguable this method may be at the end. Selim Sahab

Nachdem er in Oman die jungen Musiker von ‘El Sistema’ erlebt hatte, entschied der ägyptische Dirigent Selim Sahab, in seinem Land einen Chor mit Waisenkindern und Straßenkindern zu bilden. Wie die Zeitung ‘El Ahram’ berichtet, hat das Projekt nun Form angenommen, und der Chor mit 70 Kindern hat seine ersten Konzerte gegeben. Die Kinder fühlten sich zum erstenmal in ihrem Leben ernst genommen und aufgewertet, sagt Sahab, der den Chor weiter ausbauen und wenn möglich durch ein Orchester ergänzen will.
