A political neophyte, cellist Estelle Revaz, 34, was elected to the Swiss National Council on the Socialist list.  Estelle Revaz is the first professional musician to be elected to the Swiss Parliament. Her principal aim is to defend culture.

Pacific Opera Victoria (Canada, Vancouver Island, British Columbia) has promoted its Chorus Master Giuseppe (Joey) Pietraroia as its Principal Conductor. As Principal Conductor, he will direct the Musicians of the Victoria Symphony, the Pacific Opera Chorus, and the opera productions.
