At the biennial competition Wigmore Hall/Bollinger International Song Competition First Prize was awarded to the 24-year-old British singer Laurence Kilsby. A student of the Curtis Institute of Music and the Royal College of Music, Kilsby was awarded first prize at the 13th Cesti Competition in August 2022. 40-year-old American composer and pianist Courtney Bryan, a native of New Orleans will be Opera Philadelphia’s next Composer in Residence from the fall of 2022. It is said that her music is in conversation with musical genres from jazz and experimental music to gospel, spirituals, and hymns.
