The Illinois Philharmonic has reached long-term agreements with both Music Director Stilian Kirov and the IPO musicians. Bulgarian conductor Stilian Kirov, 38, has agreed to a 4- year contract extension through the 2026-2027 season, bringing his total time with IPO at that point to ten years. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) has announced 28-year-old Venezuelan conductor Rodolfo Barráez as its new Associate Conductor after an international search. Larry Rachleff, former Music Director of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, passed away on August 8th in Houston, TX. He was 67 years old. He served as Music Director of the Rhode Island Phil from 1996-2017. He was succeeded by the recently deceased Bramwell Tovey. The Jury of the 20th Santander International Piano Competition has announced the winners. Jaeden Izik-Dzurko (Canada, 23) won First Prize and Gold Medal. The Prize comprises cash of 30,000 Euros, a tour of concerts around Spain and abroad, as well as the recording of a CD for Naxos.
