Giacomo Sagripanti

GM Art & Music has announced that Italian conductor Giacomo Sagripanti has been appointed Music Director at Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre, in the capital of Georgia. Sagripanti is also Principal Guest Conductor for the operatic repertoire at Fondazione Lirico Sinfonica Petruzzelli in Bari.

Alexander Prior

When 29-year-old British conductor and composer Alexander Prior becomes music director of the Erfurt Theater starting in the 2022/23 season, he will have left the Edmonton Symphony in Canada where he became chief conductor in the fall of 2017. He will not extend his contract there beyond the 5-year-tenure. Michael Stern has been announced as the orchestra’s Artistic Advisor while the orchestra searches for the next Music Director.

The United States has issued new Russia-related sanctions targeting 17 individuals, including Sergei Roldugin, a cellist and conductor who the Treasury Department says acts as « custodian of Putin’s offshore wealth, » and Roldugin’s opera singer wife, Elena Mirtova.
