Der schwedische Dirigent Herbert Blomstedt, 94, hat seine Konzerte mit der Staatskapelle Berlin am heutigen 27. und dem morgigen 28. Juni abgesagt. Wie die Staatsoper mitteilte, ist er nach einem Sturz ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert worden. Für Blomstedt übernimmt Christian Thielemann die musikalische Leitung der beiden Konzerte.

Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Music Director of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Canadian Orchestre Métropolitain, gets his own festival at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden. He will be at the center of the Summer Capital festival from July 8 to 17, 2022, together with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and various soloists. He will also perform as a pianist.

The Southwest Florida Symphony has announced the appointment of Radu Paponiu, 32, as its next music director. Paponiu also serves as the associate conductor and youth orchestra director of the Naples Philharmonic. Born in Romania, Paponiu started studying the violin in his native country. Later he managed to be accepted in the Perlman program, the summer school of Itzhak Perlman. He graduated from the Los Angeles Conservatory.

Der österreichische Tenor Kurt Equiluz ist am 20. Juni 93-jährig verstorben. 1929 in Wien geboren und dort auch ausgebildet, war er ab 1950 Mitglied der Wiener Staatsoper.
