Die Bach-Medaille der Stadt Leipzig 2022 geht an den Pianisten Andras Schiff. Das teilte das Bach-Archiv mit. Zeitlebens habe der 1953 in Budapest geborene Künstler Bachs Tastenmusik auf dem modernen Flügel in den Mittelpunkt seiner Recitals gestellt. Mit der Bachstadt Leipzig und dem Bachfest verbinde Schiff eine besonders intensive Zusammenarbeit. Die Auszeichnung wird im Rahmen des Bachfestes Leipzig 2022 am 16. Juni überreicht.

The newly-formed Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra will be touring during Summer in Europe and the United States. The orchestra will be conducted by Canadian-Ukrainian conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson, and includes musicians who are now refugees and Ukrainian members of European orchestras. Der 82-jährige Schweizer Komponist Heinz Holliger wird mit Robert Schumann-Preis der Stadt Mainz ausgezeichnet. Er erhalte die Ehrung für sein künstlerisches Lebenswerk, teilte die Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur in Mainz mit. «In Heinz Holligers vielseitigem Wirken berühren sich Musik und Dichtung», erklärte die Jury in ihrer Begründung am Dienstag. Er lote «psychische Grenzbereiche» aus.

Pavel Kogan has resigned from his position as Artistic Director and chief conductor of the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra. This reported by TASS. According to the Russian Ministry of Culture, the musician resigned at his own request. Kogan has led the orchestra since 1989.
