The Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition (SISIVC) has announced that its Third Edition, originally scheduled for 2020, will now be completed online and the six candidates that have reached the final round will not be competing for rankings. Nodoka Okisawa (*1987) has been appointed 14th Chief Conductor of the City of Kyoto Symphony Orchestra. During her initial three-year term starting in March 2023, she will lead the renowned Japanese orchestra in subscription, education and family concerts. French conductor Mélisse Brunet, 45, will be the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra’s new Musical Director from the fall 2022. She will be the fifth music director in the Philharmonic’s 61-year history and the first woman in that role. She succeeds Scott Terrell, who led the orchestra from 2009 to 2019. Read More →

The Texan Amarillo Symphony Orchestra has announced that British conductor George Jackson, 34, has been appointed as Music Director from September 2022. Winner of the 2015 Aspen Conducting Prize, Jackson came to attention after stepping in at short notice with Orchestre de Paris. Other highlights include leading Ensemble Intercontemporain at the Rainy Days Festival in Luxembourg and Festival d’Automne in Paris, as well as conducting the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, among others.

27.000 Besucher kamen zu den 63 Veranstaltungen des Klavier-Festivals Ruhr. 101 Pianisten aus 20 Nationen, zehn Ensembles und 16 weitere Solisten aus verschiedenen musikalischen Bereichen traten in 24 Städten der Rhein-Ruhr-Region auf.
