After the Dutch government announced new measures against the spread of the coronavirus, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam (and most of the Dutch halls) will remain closed for the next weeks. On its website the Concertgebouw says: « One of those measures means that a maximum of 30 people may come together. Organizing concerts for just 30 visitors is not possible for The Concertgebouw. As a result, we are unfortunately forced to cancel all planned concerts up to and including Tuesday, November 10. »

Jordi Savall and Le Concert des Nations have cancelled a series of concerts in several cities, after the Maestro tested positive for COVID-19. Jordi Savall posted the following message on his Facebook page: « On October 6th, after a strict sanitary control, the orchestra Le Concert des Nations and Maestro Savall traveled to Wroclaw (Poland) to perform in the prestigious NFM hall the last Beethoven 250 academy planned until October 11th. During those days, concerts were held and the 8th and 9th symphonies were recorded, except for the final choral part. Die Staatskapelle Berlin und ihr Chefdirigent Daniel Barenboim werden das Risikogebiet Berlin im November nicht verlassen. Die vom 6. bis 22. November geplante Tournee mit Konzerten in Paris, Athen und Wien wurde abgesagt. Die Durchführung dieser Tournee sei in der Corona-Situation nicht möglich, teilte das Orchester mit.

Das Kuratorium der Salzburger Festspiele hat am Dienstag der Verlängerung des Vertrags mit Festspielpräsidentin Helga Rabl-Stadler zugestimmt. Rabl-Stadler hatte im Juni dieses Jahres ihre Bereitschaft erklärt, ihren mit 31. Dezember 2020 auslaufenden Vertrag bis zum Ende des wegen Corona bis 2021 ausgedehnten 100-Jahr-Jubiläums der Festspiele zu verlängern. Der Vertrag läuft nun bis 31. Utah Symphony | Utah Opera (USUO) has announced that Swiss conductor Thierry Fischer (63) will extend his contract as Utah Symphony Music Director through August 2023. In May 2019, Fischer had announced his plans to conclude his tenure at the end of the 2021-22 season. This extension adds one year to his role as Music Director, and will run concurrently with his Music Directorship of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), which he took up in March of this year.
