The London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) has appointed American conductor Karina Canellakis, 38, as Principal Guest Conductor from September 2020.Canellakis began her career as a violinist. She is Chief Conductor of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic and Principal Guest Conductor, Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin.

Carnegie Hall has closed the remaining weeks of the 2019/20 season. The organization moved its previously announced closure date of May 10 through the summer and into fall. It will not reopen until the start of next season, on October 7, 2020.

The City of Toronto has issued a warning to singers inspired to take to their balconies amid social isolation measures, the Canadian music magazine Ludwig-van reports. Apparently numerous stray cats entering are the city from surrounding suburbs.
