Die Hamburger Elbphilharmonie will den spanischen Sänger Placido Domingo trotz der Vorwürfe wegen sexueller Belästigung im November auftreten lassen. « Vorbehaltlich weiterer Entwicklungen » werde Placido Domingo am 27. November singen, teilte die Elbphilharmonie mit. « Als öffentliche Institution können wir sexuelle Übergriffe weder tolerieren noch verharmlosen, sind aber in unserem Handeln auch an rechtsstaatliche Prinzipien gebunden », sagte Intendant Christoph Lieben-Seutter am Donnerstag. Für den Auftritt beständen gültige Verträge mit dem Veranstalter des Konzertes.

Die Österreicherin Madeleine Landlinger gibt ihre Position als Intendantin des Württembergischen Kammerorchesters Heilbronn zum 1. Januar 2020 auf, nach nur viereinhalb Jahren. Als Grund werden unterschiedliche Vorstellungen über die zukünftige strategische Ausrichtung des Orchesters genannt.

Dem Dirigenten und Pianisten Christoph Eschenbach wurde der Titel ‘Ehrenprofessor des Landes Schleswig-Holstein’ zuerkannt. Ministerpräsident Daniel Günther hat den 79-Jährigen Musiker am gestrigen Donnerstag für seine herausragenden Verdienste rund um das Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (SHMF) ausgezeichnet. « Das SHMF ist untrennbar mit Ihrem Namen verbunden. Sie sind seit Jahrzehnten eine der zentralen Persönlichkeit für die Kulturszene im Land », sagte Günther bei einem Festakt.

During three weeks, the French Riviera city Menton organized its 70^th Music Festival. The program comprised 21 concerts and several concerts ‘off’. 125 artists performed at a total of 40 events. 7200 people came to the normal concerts, 5000 to the so-called ‘off’-events. The average attendance rate was 92%, seven percent more than in 2018.

Smitri Shostakovich

On August 22, ten love letters written by composer Dmitri Shostakovich to the Bolshoi ballet dancer Nina Ivanova will be sold by the the Litfond auction house in Moscow. The starting price of the lot is from 750 to 800.000 rubles (€10.200-11.000). According to media coverage in Russia, Shostakovich and the dancer met in 1933 und fell in love. The composer wanted her to become ultimately his wife, yet Nina Ivanova refused since he was married and had two small children. The relationship ended in 1940. »

Following an intensive summer camp, Concertgebouworkest Young will introduce itself on the stage.
