The city San Lorenzo de El Escorial has renamed its concert hall after Spanish mezzosoprano Teresa Berganza in recognition of her artistic merits, her human values and her attachment to the city. Berganza was born in Madrid in 1935. San Lorenzo de El Escorial, also known as El Escorial de Arriba, is a town and municipality in the Community of Madrid, located to the northwest of the region in the south-eastern side of the Sierra de Guadarrama, at the foot of Mount Abantos.

The Florida Orchestra has extended the contract of Music Director  Michael Francis contract through 2024. Francis, 42, is in this position since 2015. He is Music Director of the Mainly Mozart Festival in San Diego. Previously he was chief conductor and artistic advisor of the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra from 2012 to 2016.
