Ganz knapp vor dem Konzert, das sie am Donnerstag zusammen mit dem brasilianischen Neojiba in Mailand geben sollte, meldete sich Martha Argerich krank. Für die Organisatoren, das Festival MiTo, war es unmöglich auf die Schnelle Ersatz zu finden. Doch der Dirigent des Orchesters, Ricardo Castro, hatte eine Lösung: er übernahm kurzerhand selber den Solopart im Klavierkonzert von Robert Schumann. Er bekam vom Mailänder Publikum tosenden Applaus.

Italian conductor Claudio Scimone died yesterday in his hometown Padua, Italy, where he was born in 1934. Scimone studied conducting with Dmitri Mitropoulos and Franco Ferrara.  He founded the chamber orchestra I Solisti Veneti, an ensemble he toured with internationally and with which he made most of his recordings. Spanish conductor and violinist Roberto Gonzalez-Monjas (*1988) will be Chief Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the Dalasinfoniettan from the beginning of the 2019/20 season. Roberto takes over from Daniel Blendulf, who steps down after four years at the end of the 2018/19 season. Dalasinfoniettan is a Swedish chamber orchestra founded in 1988, based in Falun.
