The Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra is in great danger, the Abu Dhabi based newspaper The National says. The ensemble has lost more than 50% of its musicians since the beginning of the year. Conductor Mohammed Amin Ezzat says, the musicians have not received their wages since eight months.

At the Gstaad Festival in Switzerland, American conductor Andrew Joon Choi has won this year’s Neeme Järvi Prize. The prize was given after a concert of Gstaad Festival Orchestra which was conducted by the participants of the Gstaad Conducting Academy, directed by Jaap van Zweden. Andrew Joon Choi (*1986) is currently a student at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste.
